A monk asked Sôzan, “When one leaves off his mourning clothes, how about that?”

Sôzan said, “Sôzan today has fulfilled filial piety.”

The monk said, “How about after you have fulfilled piety?”

Sôzan said, “Sôzan loves to get drunk.”
